Early life[edit]
Isha was born on 29 September 1984 in Gujarat, India to an Australian musician father & a Gujarati artist mother. She lived in Ahmedabad, from where she moved to different places like, Delhi, Orissa, Vrindavan[1] and Bangalore, before settling down in Trivandrum.

Isha's parents founded an arts school called Academy for Art Research, Training and Innovation (AARTI) in Trivandrum, Kerala[2] where she lived for 13–14 years. At the age of thirteen, she began formal learning in dance from her mother Daksha Sheth at her dance school and learned Kalaripayattu, Kathak and Chhau dance as well as giving performances in twenty-two countries over last seven years.[3]

According to an interview with India Daily, Isha stated she "lived a different life poles apart from the film industry. For 11 years I have been training eight to 10 hours a day in a very disciplined atmosphere where there is no distinction between boys and girls. I was not supposed to cry over a clipped nail. Beyond stage even my wardrobe has mostly unisexual dresses, jeans and T-shirts" She is a trained Malkam dancer a part of folk dance.[4]

Career[edit]
Isha never gave acting in Bollywood too much priority, until she was spotted by Subhash Ghai who required someone with talented dancing skills to perform in his movie Kisna (2005). He offered her a main role in the film opposite Vivek Oberoi.[3] The film did not do well but her dance performances were appreciated. She was also the dancer opposite Hritik Roshan in the Parle Hide & Seek commercial, performing a much appreciated dance duet with Hritik.

Since then she has continued her dance performances on stage, as well as signing for several additional movies which were released in 2006 and 2007. She appeared as a female lead in the Hindi comedy Darwaza Bandh Rakho in 2006.

She is currently the lead dancer in the Daksha Sheth Dance Company, and has performed in front of live audiences throughout the world, including Mumbai, London, Perth and Muscat.[5]

Isha joined the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 5 as a participant which was aired on Colors TV. She was much appreciated for her dance performances in the show.[6]

In 2013, she played the titular role as a housebreaker in the Malayalam short film Esha, a part of the anthology 5 Sundarikal.

Kisna: The Warrior Poet is a Hindi film that was released in 2005, starring Vivek Oberoi (who plays the title role), Antonia Bernath, and Isha Sharvani. The musical film is set in the British India of the tumultuous 1940s when Indian nationalists fighting for the country's independence rose up as one, urging the British Raj to leave. It is a love story about two people who are torn between Karma (the noble deed) and Dharma (the duty). The film has two veteran composers, A. R. Rahman and Ismail Darbar; the lyrics were written by Javed Akhtar. This film also marks Amrish Puri's final performance. The film, however, did not perform well at the box office. The film was premiered in the Marché du Film section of the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.[3][4]

Subhash Ghai combined the musical talent of A. R. Rahman and Ismail Darbar to create the soundtrack. Ghai roped in his usual associate Rahman originally, but had to sign in Ismail Darbar to complete the project as Rahman was busy with the works of The Lord of the Rings.[1] Ghai says: "Rahman was my original choice because it is an international project and I wanted both the festive and soulful element of Indian music. However, he was busy with the Lord of Rings and excused (himself saying) that he won't be able to do the whole album. So he has done the theme song and the English song. Then I asked Ismail to do the rest because apart from Rahman he has the knowledge and ability to fuse Western and Indian classical music. The way he has used Ustad Rashid Khan's voice in "Kahe Ujare Mori Neend" is really captivating. The music has turned out so well that you can't distinguish an Ismail song from a Rahman one".[1]

The soundtrack got excellent reviews and was immensely praised. The lyrics were penned by Javed Akhtar.
