Roma Asrani (born August 25, 1984) is an Indian model turned actress who works mainly in Malayalam-language films.[1] She made her début in the Telugu film Mr. Errababu in 2005. She has also acted in Tamil and Kannada movies. She got her first break through her debut Malayalam film Notebook, the film was a huge success and her performance was critically acclaimed by the both critics and audience. She got her first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role.[2]

Family[edit]
Roma Asrani was born to a family from Delhi, who later settled in Chennai.[3] Her father Muralidhar and mother Madhu run a wholesale jewellery shop in Chennai.[4]

Career[edit]
She made her entry into Malayalam films with the movie Notebook, directed by Roshan Andrews and became very popular after the success of the film. For her performance in Notebook she was adjudged best newcomer by Kerala Film Critics Association, Asianet, Amrita TV and Kalakeralam. Her second film July 4 (2007),directed by Joshiy however, was a flop.But it was a notable one. Her movie Chocolate (2007) with Prithviraj was a big hit, and this movie was a turning point in her career. She has also acted in a music album by the band Team Malayalee with popular singer Vineeth Sreenivasan and actor Prithviraj for the number Minnel Azhake which was a big hit in south India.[5]

Roma has also acted in the Telugu movie Mr. Errababu (2005) and the Tamil movie Kathale En Kathale (2006). She made her Kannada début with Aramane (2007), starring Ganesh in the lead. Further, she reappeared in the Telugu industry after a break in the movie Chalaki in 2010.She has acted in some advertisements.

She did her early part of school in Presentation Higher Secondary School in Calicut and later in Carmel Girls High School in Thiruvananthapuram.[3] In 2007 she graduated in psychology from Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore.[4] Now doing M.Sc Psychology in Jain University Bangalore.[5]

Ann Augustine married cinematographer Jomon T. John on 2 February 2014.[6]
